Chester Literature Festival

Sir Ranulph Fiennes, Margaret Drabble, Victoria Hislop and Ian McMillan are among the famous names taking part in this year’s Chester Literature Festival.

The October festival also features appearances from award-winning and best-selling authors including James Kelman, Laura Barnett, Jessie Burton, and crime writer Ann Cleeves.

And there are also events featuring comedian Sara Pascoe, poets Lemn Sissay and Henry Normal, 21-year-old Cheshire-born adventurer Alex Staniforth, ex-MPs Matthew Parris and Paddy Ashdown, and playwright and Edinburgh Fringe veteran John Osborne.

Meanwhile music will take centre stage on October 10 with the day dedicated to the late David Bowie.

His friend Lesley-Ann Jones will tell the personal story of her time living with him and commentator and journalist Paul Morley will talk about the impact of Bowie’s art in The Age of Bowie.

Chester Literature Festival is produced by Storyhouse, and boasts more than 60 events over 16 days, with many taking place at its hub in Chester Town Hall.
